France is making preparations for potential emergencies, including war, by planning to distribute a 20-page survival manual booklet to every household. If approved, the manual will be divided into three sections, each providing useful tips on staying safe and protecting one’s family during emergency situations. France had previously launched a government website in 2022 to advise on emergency preparedness. The new booklet takes inspiration from similar initiatives in Sweden and Finland, providing instructions on handling emergencies like military conflicts, power outages, communication failures, and extreme weather events.
Additionally, the survival booklet will recommend that every household keep a ‘survival kit’ containing essentials such as bottled water, canned food, batteries, a flashlight, and medical supplies.
