Futurama Season 13: What to Expect

“Futurama” fans, get ready for some exciting news! Executive producer David X. Cohen recently announced that the upcoming season finale of the beloved animated series will delve deeper into the backstory of Fry and his brother during their childhood. Set to air in 2026, the new season promises to uncover more about the fan-favorite characters’ past.

The show’s creator, Matt Groening, along with Cohen and other executive producers, Claudia Katz and Ken Keeler, supervising director Peter Avanzino, and voice actors Billy West, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, David Herman, and Maurice LaMarche, recently gathered at San Diego Comic-Con to share some exciting updates with fans. The panel kicked off with a table read of the sixth episode of the upcoming Season 13.

While details about guest stars were kept under wraps, Cohen did reveal that San Antonio Spurs player Victor Wembanyama will make an appearance in the season opener.

Hulu has also announced a change in their release format for “Futurama,” opting for a binge-watch model. All 10 episodes of Season 13 will premiere simultaneously on September 15 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. This new approach aims to give fans a more immersive viewing experience.

Cohen expressed his gratitude to the dedicated fanbase for their continued support throughout the show’s ups and downs. He encouraged fans to participate in the binge-a-thon by watching each episode multiple times, jokingly suggesting watching it eight times for good measure.

Season 13 of “Futurama” will also air on FXX, with two episodes airing weekly starting on September 15 at 8 p.m. ET. This marks a departure from the previous season releases, which followed a weekly schedule.

During the Q&A session at the Comic-Con panel, surprise guest Orlando Jones posed a quirky question about time travel ethics, adding a touch of humor to the event. The panelists engaged in some lighthearted banter, reflecting the fun and playful spirit of the show.

With Nielsen ranking “Futurama” among the top 10 streaming originals of 2024, the show’s popularity remains as strong as ever. The recent renewal for two more seasons solidifies its place in the hearts of fans.

As the anticipation builds for Season 13, the logline teases a thrilling ride ahead, with Bender going rogue, a volcano on the brink of eruption, romantic rivalries, and unexpected twists that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Featuring an ensemble cast of talented voice actors and creative minds behind the scenes, “Futurama” continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of humor, sci-fi elements, and heartwarming moments. Stay tuned for the premiere of Season 13 and embark on a new adventure with the crew of the Planet Express spaceship.
