It’s quite revealing how the Democrats and their media supporters latch onto certain narratives, repeating them ad nauseam when they believe they have struck gold.

Take, for instance, the incessant coverage of the ‘Maryland man’ recently deported to El Salvador. Despite being identified as an MS-13 member with two judges affirming his deportation, the left seems unfazed by these facts. They’ve decided this narrative is a potent weapon against Trump, and they are committed to wielding it.

On a recent episode of The Five on FOX News, Greg Gutfeld dissected this unfolding narrative.

Transcript via Real Clear Politics:

JESSE WATTERS: Greg, is this a constitutional crisis?

GREG GUTFELD: You know what’s amusing? I don’t care.

Honestly, I’m unfazed. I bet many viewers at home can sense the mechanics of this narrative. So, what’s particularly odd about this case?

Isn’t it strange that the majority of Americans support deporting illegal immigrants, especially those with criminal records? Yet, for the last week, the media has fixated on just one individual. Just one.

I couldn’t even tell you his name, nor do I care. If he’s in the country unlawfully, he must go.

We are not responsible for the flawed system that allowed his presence here. Is he a terrorist? Does it even matter?

Let me offer you a sports analogy, since I know you appreciate those.

Imagine you’re enjoying a game from your box seats only to find someone occupying your spot. You ask why this person is in your seat, only to learn he’s not supposed to be there.

But you’re told he’s a family man with a job. That doesn’t concern me.

That’s my seat! Isn’t there a procedure to remove him? Yes, there is.

Can he return to his rightful seat? Why hasn’t he? I’m not worried about where that seat is; he just needs to vacate.

But did you know he’s been making an effort to be a good citizen? He’s been quiet.

No, you’re missing the point—he has to leave. We anticipated this process wouldn’t be straightforward.

It was remarkably simple for Democrats to swing open the borders and bask in the glow of compassion. However, sending people back will always prove much more challenging.

Here’s the clip:

The underlying irony here is that the Democrats likely don’t genuinely care about this individual; he’s merely a pawn in their ongoing chess match against Trump. By next week, they will have transitioned to whatever the new headline is.
