For now, set aside discussions on gerrymandering, the conflict in Iran, and Trump’s visit to China. What truly concerns voters is the economy. It affects everyone, and for those who are not wealthy, the situation is challenging.

CNN reported its latest poll highlighting the significance of the economy to Americans: “A recent CNN poll conducted by SSRS indicates that 77%—including a majority of Republicans—believe Trump’s policies have increased living costs in their communities. Approximately two-thirds of Americans feel that Trump’s policies have deteriorated the nation’s economic conditions. Trump’s approval rating on the economy is at 30%, marking a career low.”

Americans’ concerns are valid, as recent inflation data suggests that Trump’s policies, aside from the Iran conflict, are contributing to rising inflation across various economic sectors.

CNBC reported:

The consumer price index increased by 0.6% in April on a seasonally adjusted basis, pushing the annual inflation rate to 3.8%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Tuesday. This marks the fastest annual inflation growth in nearly three years.

“Consumers are striving to manage higher energy costs, but relief is scarce elsewhere,” said Bret Kenwell, U.S. investment analyst at eToro. “Inflation pressure is not limited to fuel; it is evident throughout the household budget.”

With the economy in such a state, it should be a primary concern for any president. However, as Americans have realized after re-electing him, Donald Trump seems indifferent to these issues, as he indicated on Tuesday.
