Helicopter Crashes on California Freeway, Pins Woman Underneath, Audio Released

A medical helicopter went down on a busy freeway in California, trapping a woman underneath the twisted wreckage, with dispatch audio from the scene being particularly intense.

TMZ has accessed the 911 call regarding Monday’s crash in Sacramento, where dispatchers indicate that someone is trapped beneath the helicopter and a tow truck is urgently needed for extraction.

Thanks to alert bystanders who quickly came to the scene, the helicopter was lifted off the victim by over a dozen individuals, ultimately leading to her being taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to dispatchers, three individuals were reported in critical condition, including another woman and a man who were also rescued from the wreckage, which occurred on U.S. Highway 50 around 7 PM Monday in eastern Sacramento, the state capital.

The helicopter had just completed a drop-off of a medical patient at UC Davis Medical Center before the crash, with no other patients onboard at that time, which led to a fire igniting at the scene.

The exact cause of the helicopter’s sudden descent remains unknown and is currently under investigation.
