Princess Anne: The Royal Who Embodied Prince Philip’s Ideals

As reported by RadarOnline.com, Princess Anne is now being hailed as the royal who most closely embodied the qualities that the late Prince Philip admired. Fresh revelations suggest that the Duke of Edinburgh saw his only daughter as “more of a man” than his sons, Charles and Andrew.

Anne recently celebrated 33 years of marriage to Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, whom she wed in a heartfelt ceremony at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral in 1992. The close bond between Anne and her father was evident when Prince Philip personally drove her to the church for her second wedding, showcasing their unique connection.

In his book “Gilded Youth,” royal author Tom Quinn sheds light on the special relationship between Anne and her father. Palace staff often joked that “Anne was the son Philip always wanted,” highlighting the shared temperament and mutual respect between them. Philip admired Anne’s fearlessness, discipline, and no-nonsense approach to royal duties, qualities he felt were lacking in his sons.

Anne’s pragmatic approach to life resonated with Philip, who valued action over introspection. While Charles pursued higher education at Cambridge University, Anne chose a different path, excelling in her A-levels and diving into royal responsibilities at a young age. Her equestrian achievements, including an individual gold medal at the 1971 Burghley three-day event, earned her father’s pride and admiration.

The bond between Anne and Philip grew stronger during the challenging times in her personal life, particularly during the breakdown of her first marriage to Mark Phillips. Sir Timothy Laurence, who entered Anne’s life in 1986 as the Queen’s equerry, became a pillar of support and stability for her. Their enduring marriage has thrived quietly at Gatcombe Park, with Sir Tim stepping into a more visible role in recent years.

As the royal family navigates through turbulent times, with King Charles distancing himself from Andrew Windsor amid controversies, Anne’s no-nonsense attitude continues to shine. Philip’s admiration for her resilience and strength echoes through the years, solidifying her position as the unwavering pillar of the royal family.

In essence, Princess Anne embodies the qualities that Prince Philip revered—a true testament to their unique bond and shared values.
