Former “Dawson’s Creek” actor James Van Der Beek is auctioning off some of his celebrity memorabilia next month as he battles cancer. The 48-year-old actor revealed his stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis last November and is now selling cherished items to cover medical expenses.

Among the items up for auction is the necklace his character from “Dawson’s Creek” gifted to Katie Holmes’ character, Joey, for prom. This iconic piece is expected to fetch between $26,400 to $52,800. Additionally, the outfit Van Der Beek wore in the pilot episode of the show could sell for as much as $4,000. Fans of his film “Varsity Blues” can also bid on the cleats he wore, with an estimated value of up to $2,600.

Van Der Beek expressed his sentiments about parting with these items, stating, “I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now.” He added, “While I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items, it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore’s auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years.”

Despite his health challenges preventing him from attending a “Dawson’s Creek” reunion in September, Van Der Beek made a virtual appearance to express his gratitude to his co-stars, crew, and fans for their unwavering support. He thanked everyone involved in the show and acknowledged the fans as “the best fans in the world.”

The auction, hosted by Propstore, will run from Dec. 5 to 7, giving fans an opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood history while supporting Van Der Beek during this difficult time.
