After facing mounting pressure, President Trump made the decision to sign a bill on November 19 that would release the long-awaited Epstein files. In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump confirmed, “I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!” He credited Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune for helping to pass the bill in their respective chambers.

The President also took a swipe at Democrats, accusing them of using the Epstein scandal to distract from the Republican Party’s successes. He emphasized that the issue of Epstein’s crimes affected the Democrats far more than the Republicans.

The day before Trump signed the bill, the House overwhelmingly voted in favor of releasing the Epstein files with a vote of 427-1. The lone holdout was Republican representative Clay Higgins from Louisiana. Higgins explained his decision by expressing concerns that the current wording of the bill could potentially harm innocent individuals.

Higgins argued that the broad release of criminal investigative files to the media could result in the unjust targeting of innocent people. He called for amendments to the bill to better protect the privacy of victims and other Americans before he would consider supporting it.

The release of the Epstein files has been a highly anticipated event, with many hoping that the documents will shed light on the extent of the disgraced financier’s criminal activities. The decision to make these files public marks a significant step in uncovering the truth behind one of the most notorious cases in recent memory.
