Jimmy Kimmel is ensuring Spencer Pratt follows through on his pledge to leave Los Angeles after his defeat in the mayoral election.
During the Tuesday episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the late-night host humorously addressed Pratt’s loss, even going so far as to rent a U-Haul for the reality TV star after Nithya Raman surpassed him and moved forward to a November runoff against Karen Bass.
“Spencer Pratt initially held second place, but with 97% of votes now counted, he has fallen to third behind L.A. City Council member Nithya Raman and current mayor Karen Bass,” Kimmel explained. “They will face off in a November runoff — Spencer Pratt will not. Meanwhile, the MAGA crowd is attempting to argue that the election was rigged.”
After an early lead, Pratt was overtaken earlier this week by Raman, a progressive Democrat, who secured 28.55% of the votes compared to Pratt’s 25.83%. Bass remains the frontrunner with 34.32%. Pratt, who received an endorsement from President Donald Trump, ventured into politics following the destruction of his home in last year’s L.A. fires. Prior to this, he was best known for his role on the reality show “The Hills” with his wife Heidi Montag.
Kimmel noted that Pratt “clearly promised that if Karen Bass or Nithya Raman were elected mayor, he would move out of L.A. … Spencer, if you’re watching, we are so, so sorry to see you go. We’re really going to miss you. You’re a man of your word, and you have to go.”
The show then cut to a U-Haul with the words “just defeated” on the side, accompanied by artwork depicting a sad-looking Pratt and metal cans with streamers attached to the back.
Kimmel joked, “I know things might be tight right now, especially with the out-of-state donation money running out. Moving is expensive, so to help you out we rented you a U-Haul. Our staff spent the whole day decorating it for you, and everyone will notice you and wave goodbye as you leave.”
He concluded his monologue with, “I hope that you and Heidi are happy wherever you go — maybe you could become mayor there! Or perhaps run for mayor and finish third again there; it could be fun for your new reality show. Either way, Mazel Tov and goodbye, Spencer Pratt!”
