Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France winner and former pro cyclist, has recently signed on to narrate the upcoming feature documentary titled “No Hands: The Wild Ride of the Schwinn Bicycle Company.” This documentary is being produced by the new doc studio, Unfeatured Films, which specializes in utilizing cost-effective AI-driven innovation to transform archival photos and footage into compelling video clips. The film is scheduled for release in 2026.

“No Hands: The Wild Ride of the Schwinn Bicycle Company” delves into the rich history of the Schwinn Bicycles, tracing its journey from its inception as Arnold, Schwinn & Company in Chicago in 1895 to the introduction of iconic models like the Paramount in 1938 and the Sting-Ray in the 1960s. The documentary aims to uncover the untold story of this legendary American brand, shedding light on the family behind its success and ultimate loss of control after declaring bankruptcy in 1992.

The team behind this project includes director Daniel Clarke, known for his work on “The Lego Brickumentary,” narrated by Jason Bateman, and “Loopers: The Caddie’s Long Walk,” narrated by Bill Murray. The film is produced by David Brookwell, co-founder of Brookwell McNamara Entertainment, and features Carl Cramer as the editor and writer. Additionally, Khristian A. and George K. Howell, founders of KSQD Media, serve as executive producers, alongside other prominent figures in the industry.

In a surprising turn of events, Lance Armstrong reveals his personal connection to Schwinn bicycles, citing his first bike, a Schwinn Mag Scrambler, as the catalyst for his cycling career. The documentary also includes interviews with key figures in the cycling world, such as Trek Bicycle president John Burke and mountain biking pioneers Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze, and Charlie Kelly. Notably, Richard Schwinn, great-grandson of co-founder Ignaz Schwinn, makes his first appearance on camera to share insights into the family’s legacy.

“No Hands” is described as a love letter to a beloved brand that has left a lasting impact on generations of Americans. The film aims to capture the essence of Schwinn’s cultural significance through a combination of classic storytelling and AI-enhanced visuals. By resurrecting the story of Schwinn using historical and archival material, the documentary seeks to honor the brand’s legacy and explore the intrigue behind its rise and fall.

Armstrong expresses his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I have always been curious about Schwinn and its history, and this documentary captures the essence of the iconic brand in a truly compelling way.” With a blend of nostalgia, passion, and cutting-edge technology, “No Hands: The Wild Ride of the Schwinn Bicycle Company” promises to offer viewers a unique and captivating insight into the storied history of this iconic American brand.
