The 7th annual Society of Composers and Lyricists Awards honored some of the most talented individuals in the music industry, with Ludwig Göransson and EJAE standing out as the big winners of the night. Göransson, known for his work on the score of “Sinners,” took home two SCL Awards for his exceptional contributions to the film, including the original song “I Lied to You,” which he co-wrote with Raphael Saadiq. EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick were also recognized for their outstanding original song “Golden” from the series “KPop Demon Hunters.”

In the independent film category, Bryce Dessner was awarded for his outstanding original score for “Train Dreams.” Göransson and “Sinners” director Ryan Coogler were presented with the Spirit of Collaboration Award, highlighting their successful partnership in bringing the film to life.

On the television front, composer Theodore Shapiro received the award for outstanding score for a television production for his work on “Severance,” while Cristóbal Tapia de Veer won for original title sequence for a television production with “The White Lotus.”

The event also featured a special tribute to the 50th Anniversary of “Rocky,” with a musical performance conducted by Bill Conti, who composed the iconic theme “Gonna Fly Now.” Melissa Manchester paid tribute to the late Alan Bergman during the In Memoriam segment with a heartfelt performance of “I’ll Never Say Goodbye.”

Hosted by Kevin Bacon and Emmy-winning composer Michael Bacon, the awards ceremony took place at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles, celebrating the exceptional talents of the music industry. The full list of winners included categories such as Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film (Ludwig Göransson for “Sinners”), Outstanding Original Score for Interactive Media (Austin Wintory for “Sword Of The Sea”), and the David Raksin Award for Emerging Talent (Chin-shan Chang for “Laws Of Man”).

Overall, the 2025 SCL Awards showcased the incredible creativity and talent of composers and lyricists in the industry, highlighting their exceptional contributions to film, television, and interactive media.
