A tragic incident unfolded in North Carolina when Tyler Weaver, a national champion in kart racing, was brutally murdered in front of his fiancée during a violent home invasion. The 25-year-old was found dead in his Forest City home on October 24th, after two suspected career criminals broke in and opened fire, leaving Weaver with fatal gunshot wounds.
Weaver, a two-time winner of the 2018 Maxxis Kart Racing National Championship, was shot multiple times while his fiancée, Nevaeh Quintero, managed to escape and alert the authorities. The Forest City Police Chief described the incident as a “targeted” robbery gone wrong, leading to Weaver’s untimely demise.
The suspects, identified as Quitaz Watkins, 35, and Jaquavious Craig, 26, fled the scene after the shooting. Warrants for their arrests were issued shortly after, and both men were apprehended ten days later. They now face charges of first-degree murder and are being held without bond at the Rutherford County Detention Center.
Watkins, with a history of arrests for various offenses including assault and drug trafficking, was captured by the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force. Craig, who has faced felony charges in the past, turned himself in to authorities in Rutherford County.
