An Ohio high school teacher has admitted to engaging in a prolonged inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student, during which she sent him thousands of explicit messages professing her love.
Jamelah Daboubi, who previously taught at Horizon Science Academy in Columbus, entered a guilty plea to charges of gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Franklin County Common Pleas Court last month, as reported by WBNS from court documents obtained by WBNS.
The 28-year-old was taken into custody in April 2025 after the studentâs aunt discovered them engaged in inappropriate acts in her vehicle.
The student, in 10th grade, informed the police about the relationship, which involved kissing, physical contact, and exchanging thousands of texts over several months, according to the Franklin County Prosecutorâs Office.
Authorities found a large number of unsettling messages on the boy’s phone, which included declarations of love exchanged between the two.
Following her arrest, Daboubi was dismissed from her teaching role and initially faced two charges of sexual battery, which were later modified, as stated by the prosecutors.
She could be sentenced to 18 months in prison at an unspecified date, according to the outlet.
The court has suggested a five-year community control period, continued counseling, relinquishment of her teaching license, and community service.
Additionally, Daboubi will need to register as a sex offender.
