Dani Busboom Kelly, a former Husker, recently shared her excitement about the Nebraska volleyball team’s impressive back-to-back victories this week. The team’s performance in the Big Ten was described as one of the most competitive weekends they have experienced so far.
Facing off against Wisconsin on Friday, October 31, the Nebraska volleyball team secured a dominant straight-set victory with scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-13 after a tough battle in the first two sets. The team then went on to play against Oregon, where they once again emerged victorious in straight sets, despite initially trailing in the first and second sets. The final score of the match was 25-21, 25-20, 25-12.
Following the matches, Dani Busboom Kelly commended the team’s strong performance on both the offensive and defensive fronts in a post-match press conference. She acknowledged the challenges posed by both Wisconsin and Oregon, recognizing them as formidable opponents in the season.
In her own words, she stated, “You know, when you can go to Wisconsin and get a sweep that’s really good and I think a hot Oregon team, I know they lost to Washington but I think they were playing really well, and I think it was one of the tougher weekends in the Big Ten playing those two teams back to back.”
Looking ahead, Busboom Kelly expressed her hope that the team would maintain their momentum as they progress through the 2025 season.
In a separate interview, Dani Busboom Kelly shed light on the Nebraska volleyball team’s motivation for the current season. She emphasized the team’s competitive spirit during practices, where they simulate different scenarios to prepare for any challenge on the court.
Moreover, Busboom Kelly revealed that the players were driven to clinch the NCAA championship title after narrowly missing out in the previous two years. She highlighted the team’s determination to avoid complacency despite their early-season success.
During practices, she mentioned, “During our practices, we have really competitive practices. You know, we are always mixing our teams up, making sure we are creating different match-ups that could be similar to the game. Again, I have said this so many times. The team has fallen short, the bulk of the team for two years now.”
As the team gears up for the rest of the season, Dani Busboom Kelly’s insights offer a glimpse into the Nebraska volleyball team’s drive and determination to achieve their goals. With a strong foundation and a hunger for success, the team is poised to make a significant impact in the 2025 season.
