Chicago police are searching for six individuals who attacked a passenger on a CTA bus in Washington Park, assaulting him repeatedly and taking his headphones and jacket before escaping.

The incident occurred on April 9 at around 7:04 p.m. as the victim was on a bus in the 5800 block of South Martin Luther King Drive. According to a community alert issued by Chicago police on Saturday, the group surrounded the passenger during the attack.

After the assault and theft, the six suspects fled the scene, heading east from 58th Street and King Drive, based on the victim’s account.

Authorities have shared surveillance images of the suspects and are requesting assistance from the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact Public Transit detectives at 312-745-4447. Anonymous tips can be submitted at CPDTIP.com using case #JK211921.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.

Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
