I realize it’s problematic to wish a straight (or at least presumed straight) person would suddenly be attracted to the same sex for my own benefit, yet I can’t help but confess: when I first laid eyes on Teyana Taylor showcasing her stunning abdominal definition in Ye’s 2016 music video “Fade,” I was utterly captivated and found myself hoping to Gay God™ that she identified somewhere within the LGBTQ+ community. Honestly, who could resist? She’s undeniably magnetic! While Ye’s legacy might not shine bright anymore, Taylor’s fierce, athletic performance in that video certainly does.
Since the release of “Fade,” I’ve come to terms with the fact that some individuals are simply heterosexual (and that I may need to tone down my parasocial infatuation for stunning women). This reality became even clearer this week when Taylor made an appearance alongside her new boyfriend, the English actor Aaron Pierre, at the premiere of her upcoming film One Battle After Another.
Taylor’s previous marriage to NBA player Iman Shumpert, with whom she shares two adorable daughters, Junie and Rue, concluded in 2023. While divorce is never a comfortable situation, even under the best of circumstances, I wholeheartedly support single mothers reinventing themselves and moving forward in ways that suit them best. (This excitement is part of why I’m thrilled about The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul potentially becoming the next Bachelorette!) Taylor’s latest red carpet ab reveal with her attractive new partner is a notable highlight.
