Ted Danson recently took the opportunity to extend an apology to his former co-star, Kelsey Grammer, for a long-standing disagreement that occurred during their time working together on the iconic sitcom “Cheers.”

The heartfelt conversation between Danson and Grammer took place on the Oct. 23 episode of the “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast, which is co-hosted by Danson and Woody Harrelson. During the episode, the two actors reminisced about their experiences on the show and delved into the dynamics of their off-screen relationship.

Danson opened up to Grammer, confessing, “I feel like I got stuck a little bit with you during the ‘Cheers’ years. I have a memory of getting angry at you once.” Grammer acknowledged the incident, stating, “Yeah, you came and told me that one day,” but the specifics of the disagreement were not disclosed.

Reflecting on the past, Danson expressed regret, admitting, “It’s stuck in both of our memories. But I feel like I missed out on the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer, and I feel like it’s my bad, my doing, and I almost feel like apologizing to you.” He went on to offer a sincere apology, saying, “No, I don’t feel like—I apologize to you and me that I sat back, you know, and didn’t. And I really do apologize.”

Grammer graciously accepted Danson’s apology and expressed a similar sentiment, wishing they had spent more time together. He shared his genuine feelings, saying, “My love for you has always been as easy as the day, as easy as the sunrise.”

During their time on “Cheers,” Danson portrayed the charming bartender Sam Malone, while Grammer played the erudite psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane. The ensemble cast also included Harrelson, Rhea Pearlman, Shelley Long, and John Ratzenberger. Following the conclusion of “Cheers,” Grammer went on to star in the successful spinoff series “Frasier,” which aired from 1993 to 2004, and the recent revival on Paramount+.
