Teddi Mellencamp is facing a lawsuit from her former housekeeper, Julia Umana, who alleges that the reality TV star mistreated her and engaged in racist behavior.
According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Umana worked as a live-in nanny and housekeeper for Teddi and claims she was subjected to abuse of power, withheld pay, a hostile work environment, and racial discrimination.
Umana alleges that Teddi treated her unfairly compared to white employees, accusing her of theft without evidence and creating a toxic work environment. She also claims Teddi mocked her for speaking Spanish.
Despite Umana’s complaints about her treatment, Teddi allegedly pressured her to work long hours for minimal pay before ultimately firing her.
As an immigrant from El Salvador, Umana felt targeted by Teddi’s discriminatory behavior and is seeking over $2 million in damages for wrongful termination and unpaid wages.
Teddi’s camp declined to comment on the lawsuit.
