President Trump Claims to Have Coined New Word “Equalize”

Prominent figure President Trump recently made headlines when he announced that he had come up with a new word: “equalize.” According to him, this new term is set to revolutionize the way we approach certain issues.

During a recent speech, he stated: “Basically, what we’re doing is equalizing. There’s a new word that I came up with, which is probably the best word. We’re gonna equalize where we’re all gonna pay the same. We’re gonna pay what Europe’s gonna pay.”

Despite the President’s enthusiasm about his supposed linguistic innovation, critics were quick to point out that the word “equalize” has been in use for centuries. On social media platform TikTok, user Farrukh Younus highlighted the historical origins of the word, stating: “President Trump says he came up with a new word: equalize. Meanwhile, back in reality, the word ‘equalize’ was first recorded in English in the late 15th century, around circa 1480–1500.”

Younus further elaborated on the etymology of the word, explaining that it derived from the Late Latin word “aequalizare,” meaning “to make equal,” which in turn is derived from “aequalis” (equal). The English adoption of the term took place around 1480–1500 as “equalize.”

While President Trump’s use of the word “equalize” may not be as groundbreaking as he claims it to be, the discussion surrounding equality and fairness in various aspects of society remains a crucial topic of debate.
