President Donald Trump made a bold statement during an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes,” expressing full support for his administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and stating that they have not been aggressive enough. This admission came after CBS correspondent Norah O’Donnell detailed instances of brutal ICE actions, such as federal agents breaking car windows, tackling individuals to the ground, and using tear gas in residential areas.

When asked if some of the raids had crossed a line, Trump defended the tactics, attributing any perceived limitations to “liberal judges” appointed by previous administrations. He emphasized the need to remove individuals from the country, regardless of the methods used.

Trump’s endorsement of such forceful immigration enforcement tactics underscores his administration’s approach, which has been criticized for its violence and aggression. Tragically, several individuals have lost their lives in connection with ICE operations, further highlighting the human cost of these actions.

Despite claims of targeting individuals with criminal records, data shows that a significant number of those detained by ICE have no such history. Trump reiterated his stance on deporting individuals who entered the country illegally, while also suggesting a path for legal reentry.

This interview with “60 Minutes” is significant as it marks Trump’s first appearance on the program since he filed a lawsuit against CBS’s parent company over allegations of deceptive editing in a 2024 interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. The contentious nature of this lawsuit adds another layer to Trump’s relationship with the media.
