Apple TV+ has officially renewed the Spanish-language series “Women in Blue” (“Las Azules”) for a highly anticipated Season 2. The news was confirmed by Variety, and fans of the show can look forward to more thrilling episodes.

The lead role of María, portrayed by Bábara Mori, will continue to captivate audiences alongside co-stars Ximena Sariñana, Natalia Téllez, and Amorita Rasgado. Season 2 is set to consist of eight episodes and is currently in production.

The upcoming season will delve deeper into the lives of the four women who defied societal norms by becoming Mexico’s first female police force. As María is promoted to lieutenant, she grapples with upholding the rules she swore to follow while uncovering a complex conspiracy surrounding a series of murders. The blurred lines between perpetrator, victim, and avenger will lead María and her colleagues into a web of buried secrets and difficult truths.

Created by Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi, who also serve as showrunners, executive producers, and directors, “Women in Blue” has garnered critical acclaim since its debut. The first season received a perfect 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was praised for its gripping storytelling and nuanced portrayal of Mexico’s first female police force.

Critics have lauded the series for its thought-provoking narrative and attention to detail. In a review for Variety, Aramide Tinubu described “Women in Blue” as a “fantastic serial killer mystery” that offers a compelling insight into the challenges faced by women in law enforcement. The show expertly balances suspense with emotional depth, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats until the final moments.
