A Democratic Senator’s effort to label US Attorney General Pam Bondi as a ‘corrupt’ figure backfired spectacularly when she delivered a stinging reminder of his own past indiscretions.
According to The Gateway Pundit, Bondi’s appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee today was particularly notable given recent developments, including a federal grand jury indictment against former FBI Director James Comey for allegedly lying to Congress, and the deployment of National Guard troops in crime-affected Democrat-controlled cities.
After deftly dismantling Senator Dick Durbin during a pointed inquiry regarding her communications with the White House about National Guard deployments, Bondi found herself subjected to scrutiny by Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT).
Seizing the moment, Blumenthal accused Bondi of malfeasance at the Department of Justice. He referenced a DOJ antitrust case that was dismissed in July 2025, involving a lobbying firm where Bondi had previously held a position.
As many might recall, Blumenthal is notably the senator who faced backlash for fabricating his military service record, claiming he served in Vietnam only to later admit he “mispoke” after being exposed.
After the allegations of corruption were leveled, Bondi did not hold back—she counterstruck with a robust defense that left Blumenthal floundering.
What a moment it was to witness!

BLUMENTHAL: I have a question regarding the merger involving American Express GBT (Global Business Travel). I understand that Brian Ballard, a longtime supporter and head of your previous law firm, played a crucial role in persuading the Justice Department to drop that lawsuit.
Since it was dismissed, there will be no court review. What discussions did you have with Mr. Ballard?
BONDI: Senator Blumenthal, I cannot fathom that you would accuse me of impropriety when you LIED about your military service!
You confessed to lying to gain your senate position! How dare you!
I am a seasoned prosecutor; you should never question my integrity. I have adhered to every ethical standard.
Do not call my impartiality as attorney general into question!
