At what point do we confront the grim reality of crime in our cities and demand accountability from Democratic leaders who seem oblivious to the consequences of their policies?
In a shocking incident last week in Democratic-governed Chicago, a 26-year-old woman became a victim of an unspeakable act of violence. Riding the ‘L’ train, she was attacked by a habitual offender with 72 prior arrests, including multiple felony convictions. In a horrifying display, this individual doused her in gasoline, pursued her through the train, and ignited her in broad daylight. As she battles severe burns and fights for her life, we are compelled to question how someone with such a violent history could be allowed to roam free.
This perpetrator was free to commit this heinous act due to the dangerously lenient “no cash bail” law signed into law by Governor JB Pritzker and endorsed by Chicago’s police-defunding Mayor Brandon Johnson. Just months before this assault, the same individual was released on electronic monitoring after being arrested for another violent crime; a judge granted him this leniency despite his blatant violations of the conditions of his release, leading directly to this tragic event.
As President Trump advocates for restoring safety to our cities through decisive actions against these reckless policies, the likes of Pritzker and Johnson seem to double down on failed strategies that have empowered violent offenders. While they maintain their stance, ordinary citizens are left to bear the brunt of the consequences.
It is time for a change. President Trump is committed to reclaiming our streets from those who would prey upon the innocent and from the policies that enable their release.
