Glassriver, a prominent production banner from Iceland, has joined forces with Italian sales company True Colours to bring a new Nordic psychological thriller series to life. The series, titled “Brkn,” is based on Jón Atli Jónasson’s novel “Brotin” and follows an investigation into the disappearance of a nonbinary teenager.
Jón Atli Jónasson, a well-known novelist, playwright, and screenwriter, is co-creating the series alongside theater director Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson and screenwriter Margrét Örnólfsdóttir. The story revolves around female and male police officers Dóra and Rado as they search for the missing teenager, Morgan. The investigation leads them into a world of organized crime, corporate power, and police corruption. Dóra, who had recently returned to duty after a traumatic incident, and Rado find themselves facing a complex web of challenges as members of Rado’s family become suspects in the case.
