The Trump administration’s attempts to craft a politically advantageous narrative in Los Angeles seem to be faltering. Trump’s appointed border czar recently stated that he would not be moving forward with plans to arrest Governor Gavin Newsom, yet Trump himself remarked that he thought the arrest would be a “great idea.”

Rather than stepping into the role of a law-and-order champion, the Trump administration finds itself deflecting blame for the situation it has exacerbated.
