Flashing police car lights represent the urgency of law enforcement and the aftermath of an arrest.

A sergeant from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) found himself on the wrong side of the law last night after allegedly crashing his car into a vehicle occupied by federal agents. Shockingly, he was also found to be armed with a machine gun and an assortment of illegal firearms.

The individual in question, Sgt. Montez Clark, aged 27, was behind the wheel of a blue Chevrolet Camaro when he was pursued by local and federal law enforcement officers for what they labeled an equipment violation, as reported by NBC Washington.

Instead of pausing for the authorities, Clark allegedly decided that escape was the best effort, resulting in a head-on collision with a vehicle carrying three agents from the Diplomatic Security Service.

Upon finally coming to a stop, law enforcement officers were confronted with a chilling discovery: two Glock handguns, one of which had a modification that allowed it to function as an automatic machine gun, alongside an array of unregistered ammunition and high-capacity magazines.

Clark and his two passengers, identified as Sakou Yates (25) and Russell Campbell (23), were promptly taken into custody. The charges against Sgt. Clark include the following:

  • Assault on a federal law enforcement officer
  • Evasion of law enforcement
  • Hit and run
  • Possession of a machine gun
  • Possession of unregistered firearms and ammunition
  • Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit
  • Violation of the National Firearms Act
  • Possession of a high-capacity magazine
  • Other related firearms violations

Additionally, Campbell faces a serious charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to WJLA.

In light of these events, the MPD has placed Sgt. Clark on administrative leave as its Internal Affairs Bureau commences an investigation.
