John-David Duggar’s Wife Abbie Opens Up About Third Pregnancy Struggles

Abbie Duggar is currently navigating the challenging waters of hyperemesis as she embarks on her third pregnancy journey.

“We’re a little over halfway there! The first half was quite a rollercoaster, but I’m grateful to feel more like myself again!” Abbie, 33, shared through Instagram on Saturday, September 27, complemented by an adorable photo showcasing her baby bump. “God is good! #pregnant #hyperemesis.”

In a picturesque sunset shot taken at an undisclosed beach, Abbie radiates joy, donning a dark pink maxi dress while tenderly cradling her growing bump.

As she celebrates hitting the halfway mark, Abbie disclosed her struggles with hyperemesis, a severe form of morning sickness characterized by extreme nausea and vomiting, which, as detailed by the Cleveland Clinic, can sometimes necessitate hospitalization to prevent serious complications, including the risk of pregnancy loss.

Abbie is not alone in this tumultuous experience; numerous mothers, including Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, have bravely battled hyperemesis while expecting. Indeed, all three of her pregnancies with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were overshadowed by this debilitating condition. Similarly, Ayesha Curry shared her harrowing ordeal during her third pregnancy on the “Because Life” podcast, remarking, “I felt terrible every day. I struggled to keep food and fluids down. I lost weight. It was tough.”

The announcement of Abbie’s pregnancy alongside husband John-David Duggar came on September 3. Their love story ignited in June 2018, culminating in a November wedding the same year. Together, they’ve welcomed two children, Grace and Charlie, born in January 2020 and October 2022, respectively.

“We’ve been keeping a little secret… 🍼🍼,” they playfully penned in an early September 2025 Instagram post regarding their third baby, adding, “Baby #3 will be arriving early 2026!!!”
