Happy Hours co-stars Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes reflect warmly on their past together from Dawson’s Creek.
“The time we spent together when we were young is very precious to both of us,” Jackson, 47, remarked during an interview at the Tribeca Film Festival. He was seen standing next to Holmes, holding her hand, in a video clip shared on Sunday, June 7. “And it remains one of the core personal and professional relationships in my life.”
Both Jackson and Holmes, also 47, starred in the cherished TV series, playing Pacey and Joey. The show, which ran from 1998 to 2003, concluded with their characters in a romantic relationship. Off-camera, the duo dated for about a year following the show’s launch.
Jackson explained, “We discussed it over the years, and then — I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit — because she created this wonderful space for us to reunite and collaborate on a beautiful story. A hopeful, real human story, and I was both honored and excited to return and share this space with you again after all these years.”
He added, “And to have a story that is ours to tell. Right? You wrote this for us. You did the whole thing. So it was magical for me to be able to come back. And you waited for me, which I appreciated.”
Holmes considers her “working relationship” with Jackson to be “very sacred.”
“I take it very seriously and want to do right by Josh. I have immense respect for him. So I wanted it to be right. We’ve often discussed working together again but never knew on what. So it was really about that and agreeing to go for it, I suppose,” she expressed in another video clip shared on Sunday. “He said yes, and that made me feel very good.”
During the summer of 2025, Jackson and Holmes delighted Dawson’s Creek fans when they were seen filming Happy Hours in New York City. The film is planned as a trilogy, exploring whether a couple’s faded connection is worth rekindling.
Reflecting on their collaboration, Jackson commented in a March interview with Today, “We spent such intense time together during a pivotal moment in our lives, and have maintained our friendship throughout the years. However, we’ve never had the chance to share the screen again, and it was magical.”
“Katie crafted this beautiful story for us, which is the three stages of a love story,” Jackson continued. “We filmed the joyful part, the falling in love, and she’s currently editing it. Hopefully, this will allow us to continue and make the other two parts.”
