The 2026 Met Gala has arrived, with anticipation building as some of the most renowned celebrities, such as co-chairs Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, assemble at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This year’s exhibit, titled “Costume Art,” elevates fashion to the level of fine art. From May 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the museum’s newly unveiled Condé M. Nast Galleries, spanning almost 12,000 square feet, will showcase hundreds of artworks that focus on the dressed body, complemented by fashion pieces that align with the theme. Reflecting this concept, the evening’s dress code, “Fashion is Art,” encourages attendees to present themselves as blank canvases.
The dress code provides ample room for creativity, while the exhibit’s sections offer potential inspiration. Some attendees may channel the classical body through Hellenistic drapery, while others might delve into exploring the anatomical body. Given the current cultural intrigue with minimalistic dressing, it’s expected that many guests will creatively honor the nude form.
Beyond the event’s co-chairs, a multitude of celebrities will grace the carpet in their most artistic attire. This includes host committee co-chairs Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz, alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Alex Consani, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult.
