Madeline Soto’s killer, Stephan Sterns, has been sentenced to 21 concurrent life sentences for the rape and murder of the 13-year-old girl. The horrific crime took place in Florida, where Sterns was in a relationship with Madeline’s mother, Jenn Soto. He pleaded guilty to 20 counts of sexual abuse and no contest to murder in a deal that spared him from the death penalty.

The abuse of Madeline began when she was just 11 years old, and it escalated over the years until her tragic death. The young girl’s body was found in a wooded area after she was reported missing on her 13th birthday. An autopsy revealed that she had been strangled, adding to the horror of the crime.

Sterns was arrested after disturbing images and videos were found on his phone, which he had attempted to delete. The evidence pointed to a pattern of abuse that had been ongoing for years. Despite initially pleading not guilty, Sterns changed his plea to no contest, avoiding a trial that would have forced him to detail the heinous crime.

Madeline’s father, Tyler Wallace, expressed his grief and anger towards his daughter’s killer, calling him depraved, weak, and a coward. The sentencing of Sterns to 21 life sentences brings a sense of closure to the family, knowing that he will never walk free again. State attorney Monique Worrell emphasized that while nothing can bring Madeline back, justice has been served, and the family can find some measure of peace.

The tragic case of Madeline Soto serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting children from abuse and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions. The community mourns the loss of a young life cut short by senseless violence, but hopes that the sentencing of Sterns will bring some measure of justice and closure to her family.
